Research

Edmund is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Biomechanics and Spinal Research Group at the Queensland University of technology.  Edmund’s first major research focus is on using advanced modelling techniques  to explore the mechanics of the spine, with focus on spinal deformities such as scoliosis.  A second major area of research is modelling of bone adaption, exploring how the bone actively responds to load, adding to or resorbing bone mass.  Edmund also conducts research into 3D printed stents, nanowire mechanics, and engineering education.

Research Projects

  • 3D printed stent mechnics

    3D printed stents offer vast potential for personalised medicine resulting in improved patient outcomes. This work uses advanced modelling to investigate the mechanical behavior of vast arrays of such stents.

    In situ SEM resonance of nanowires to characterise mechanical properties and behaviour.

  • Engineering education research

    Various research projects on engineering education including the effects of worked example videos as a valuable resource for blended learning.
